Course Description

This course is taught by a Registered Nurse who works in long-term care and understands the daily challenges of caring for people at the end of life. We connect with your staff and work through those challenges and provide tools and resources for success. This course is designed to teach staff how to provide a personal, peaceful, and meaningful dying experience for elders and families.

In order to be successful at Person Centered Care, communities must have consistent assignments and give care partners the authority to make day to day decisions in providing care. Often the design of the building limits creating neighborhoods or households that are a part of culture change. Investigate how to de-institutionalize the environment to make a home. Self Empowerment and Making a Home are two of the domains for the PEAK 2.0 program in Kansas.

Course Objectives

  • Discuss the relationship between the functional capacity screen, negotiated service agreements and health service plan.
  • Examine negotiated service agreement and health service plan development.
  • Explain medication management and other nursing function regulations.

Course Description

This class is designed to help the assisted living/residential healthcare/home plus nurse with some of the concepts learned in the operators course.  The relationship between the functional capacity screen, negotiated service agreement and health service plan will be discussed.  How to develop the negotiated service agreement and health service plan will be examined in detail.  The regulations regarding medication management and other nursing functions will also be explained.  If you have not taken the Assisted Living Operators Course and are currently working or hope to work in state licensed only adult care homes this class is definitely for you.
