Pressure Injury Prevention - Nurse Lunch, Learn & Support
- Discuss the most common risk assessment used in the United States to predict the development of a pressure injury;
- Report an understanding of the six subscales of the Braden assessment;
- Develop interventions for each subscale deficit of the Braden assessment; and
- Design a comprehensive risk assessment program for the prevention of pressure injuries in his/her community.
Pressure injuries are known to cause pain and often decrease activity for those who develop them. Additionally, they often cost thousands of dollars to treat and lead to negative regulatory outcomes for the community and public perception about the community. The saying goes that “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” In the first “Lunch, Learn, & Support” offered by GERTI, nurse leaders will learn how to focus on prevention and move beyond the risk assessments used to predict the occurrence of a pressure ulcer to save your residents from pain and suffering.
